Romanian President Traian Basescu Monday named Catalin Predoiu as the country’s acting prime minister after Emil Boc stepped down from the post while announcing his cabinet’s resignation. The president made the move soon after Boc announced the decision to tender his cabinet’s resignation.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Sunday paid a short visit to Bulgaria and discussed energy issues and military cooperation with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. At a joint press conference with Borissov, Clinton said she had a very productive meeting with the prime minister.
