ElBaradei’s Report Stresses Peacefulness of Iran’s N. Activities

A0175015.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran’s residing representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asqar Soltanieh said ElBaradei’s report has stressed the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities.

“The most important message conveyed in the shortest report of the IAEA Director General is the peaceful nature of Iran’s activities and that Tehran has not impeded IAEA inspections,” Soltanieh told FNA here on Wednesday.

“The report also stresses that the Agency has not found any kind of evidence or proof substantiating Iran’s diversion from peaceful civilian nuclear activities towards military and banned programs and that Iran has cooperated most with the IAEA,” he continued.

“The report shows that Iran has had close cooperation with the Agency in presenting the needed information and data, auditing the nuclear materials, and allowing inspectors to monitor the enrichment process in Natanz nuclear facility.”

The nuclear official added, “Another important point indicated in the report is that the IAEA test results show that Iran’s claims concerning the successful enrichment of uranium at the level of 5% through the first cascade of centrifuges has been true, while IAEA inspections have approved of the successful transformation of uranium to UCF in Isfahan nuclear plant, where 55 tons of Uf6 has been produced.”

Meantime, he said that the last paragraph of ElBaradei’s report has mentioned that the Agency is still continuing with its inspections and studies and that ElBaradei would continue with its reports, adding, “The aforementioned point means that all Iran’s nuclear activities have been peaceful and that Iran has not impeded the Agency’s inspection of its sites and facilities.”

“Therefore, there exists no technical or legal justification for the intervention of the UN Security Council or other international bodies in the issue, and if any such intervention takes place, it will certainly endanger Iran’s cooperation with the Agency,” Iran’s permanent representative to the IAEA stressed.
