“This confession introduces the actual and real threat to the security and stability of the Middle-East and explains the devilish goals and plots of the Zionist regime for practicing its policy of threat and intimidation and continued occupation in the region,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini said.

Noting article 10 of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), he stated that the official acknowledgement of the Zionist regime prime minister is a true and clear case of extraordinary conditions of military threat to the security of the Muslim states of the region, stressing the need for the adoption of urgent and efficient solutions by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and other regional bodies to encounter the objective and threats of the Israeli regime.

Hosseini also expressed regret over the blatant contradictions in the policies of some world powers, and reminded, “Supporters and allies of the Zionist regime have overlooked this vitally sensitive event with full ignorance and heedlessness and have shown no reaction to it, while they believe that a mere scientific and academic convention is synonymous with hatred and destruction.”

He said such contradictory approaches and double standards reveal that the supporters of Israel victimize freedom, democracy, justice and peace for the interests of a number of Zionist expansionists and undermine the real concept of such notions on a daily basis.

Pointing to the discriminatory views and attitudes of some UNSC members, the diplomat also reminded that article 10 of the NPT emphasizes direct and continued supervision over the nuclear permanent UNSC members to make sure that they stop proliferation of military nuclear capability to the Zionist regime.

“This ignorance and heedlessness does not terminate the legal responsibilities of the UN Security Council, although it is a confirmation of the recent statements by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan that the Security Council has turned into a place for securing the interests of some countries,” he continued.

The spokesman further underscored, “The Islamic Republic of Iran advises the UN Security Council to pay full attention and make maximum efforts to deal with actual and practical threats of military nuclear capability and account for the deep and real concerns and worries of the Middle-East countries, rather than placing unreal and imaginary issues on its agenda.”
