A02780704.jpgI do apologize to the Iranian people for entering Iranian waters illegally and without any permission, Thomas Summers, one of the 15 British marines who were arrested after trespassing Iran’s territorial waters said here on Friday.Speaking in an interview with Iran’s state-run TV, Summers also said that he has been working as a mechanic in Britain’s Royal Navy for the last two years.

“I was arrested in the Iranian waters on Friday 23rd March, 2007,” he said, adding, “We entered Iranian waters without any permission.”

“Since we were arrested, Iranians have treated us in a very friendly manner and we have had no conflicts,” the British marine continued.

He voiced deep pleasure with Iranians’ hospitality, saying, “Everything has been fine and I am fully satisfied with the conditions.”

“I would like to apologize to the Iranian people for our illegal entry into the Iranian waters and for having repeated an action which took place in 2004 (i.e. trespassing of Iranian waters) and I hope that such events will not happen in future,” Summers stressed.
