The public turnout in every election, which has always been unprecedented, symbolizes democracy in Iran, he said in a meeting with a group of clerics in Qom.

The former chief nuclear negotiator called the upcoming parliamentary election “very sensitive”, saying the West is trying to prove that its pressure and sanctions against Iran have been effective.

But the political message of the March 14 election is very crucial and is linked with the dignity of nation, he stressed.

Larijani also praised the innovative activities of President Ahmadinejad’s cabinet in spreading national peace by eliminating the people’s problems and insisting on restoration of the nation’s legal rights at the international scenes.

The Principlists (Osulgara) is a coalition of Iranian parties that pursue policies akin to those of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his supporters.
