Kosovo Not To Become a ‘Black Hole’

resizer169The EU will find practical and pragmatic ways to prevent Kosovo from becoming the ‘black hole’ of Europe, says EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn.

Rehn welcomed the fact that “the Balkans is to be on the EU agenda, after the latter was filled with financial and economic problems”.

Even though 22 EU member states out of 27 have recognized Kosovo’s independence, the “EU will find means to prevent Kosovo from becoming Europe’s black hole”, Rehn said.

He said this would be attained by “economic and trade integration, and contacts among citizens”.

Kosovo declared independence in February 2008 and has since been recognized by 56 states around the world, 22 of which are EU members.
