Kosovo PM Gives Up Parliament Seat

Kosovo’s prime minister, Hashim Thaci, has sent a letter of resignation to Kosovo parliament speaker Jakup Krasniqi to inform the assembly that he is resigning from his position as member of parliament, the premier’s office has announced.

The decision to resign was based on Kosovo’s constitution. The letter reads: “This decision was reached after taking into consideration my dedication to Kosovo’s government, and after considering the most efficient way for me to fulfill my duties as prime minister.”

The letter also explains that the resignation will help Kosovo’s parliament increase its efficiency and will create the possibility for a new deputy, one who will be dedicated solely to the work and duties of a legislator, to take Thaci’s seat in parliament.
