Bulgarian Foreign Minister: Athens attack doesn’t target Bulgaria

The bomb mail received Tuesday in the Bulgarian embassy in Athens has not specifically targeted Bulgaria, according to a statement by Bulgarian foreign affairs minister Nikolay Mladenov.

Speaking for the Bulgarian National Radio, Mladenov said that in view of the series of a total of 10 bomb mailings sent out over Monday and Tuesday, one cannot claim that Bulgaria is a specific target to terrorists.

The Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs said the source of the attacks is most probably an internal Greek organization provoked by processes within the country, and not Islamist radicals.

Minister Mladenov assured that Bulgaria has taken up all measures to ensure the safety of its representatives abroad.

He stated that no panicking is in order, but that also embassy worker must exercise special caution in they day to day business.
