New round of negotiations between Greece and Macedonia to start in New York

UN Mediator in the Greek-Macedonian name dispute, Matthew Nimetz, is preparing a new proposal for solution to the long-burning issue.

It is expected for Nimetz to speed up the talks with the two countries.

Diplomatic communication will be used in the place of the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, which will be welcomed by Greece, as well as by Macedonia, which is determined not to change its constitutional name.

Unnamed sources from Brussels said that there is a great chance for the talks in New York to find a solution to the name dispute, since Greek Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou is interested in such an outcome because of the pressure exerted by the USA, as well as by the EU, which supports the Greek economy and asks for political cooperation.
