Romania does not recognize presidential elections held in Nagorno-Karabakh

Romania does not recognize the so-called “presidential elections” in Nagorno-Karabakh, Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania said on Thursday.

Romanian Foreign Ministry released a statement which considers illegal the so-called “presidential elections” held in Nagorno-Karabakh on July 19.

“The Foreign Ministry reiterates the principled position with regard to recognition of the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh region. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry reiterates that it supports activity of the OSCE Minsk Group and its co-chairs, as well as joint efforts in resolving Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and encourages the parties to intensify their efforts to resolve the conflict through negotiations,” the statement says.
