Energy Efficiency Gets a Boost in Kosovo

resizer149The German Bank for Development is to provide the Procredit Bank in Kosovo with a loan to finance new energy efficiency schemes for the wider population in Kosovo.

″We are sure that this support will contribute to a sustainable utilisation of energy in Kosovo,″ said the vice head of Entwicklungsbank for Europe, Doris Kohn.

The credit for energy efficiency enables Procredit Bank to finance investments for energy spending reductions in small and medium enterprises as well as households. These investments include changing boilers, lighting with lower energy costs and the changing of the warming system.

More than €150 million were given to support partner banks in southeast Europe to finance energy efficiency.

Since the end of the conflict between local Albanians and Serbia in 1999, Kosovo has experienced continued problems with its energy supplies.
