Serbian FM is certain his country will be the next to join EU

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkić has said he is “certain” that Serbia will be “the next state to join the European Union.”

Mrkić’s confidence is based on the belief that this is also a wish of those states which are already part of the European family of peoples, but admits that we have a lot of work ahead of us along that road.

“I firmly believe in that. My belief is mostly grounded in the friendship and support that our partners from the EU are offering to us and I know that we will not disappoint them,” Mrkić said in an interview to the Belgrade-based tabloid Kurir.

Speaking about the strengthening of Serbian diplomacy across the world, the minister underlines that our diplomatic and consular representative offices in any country could contribute to the efforts aimed at the country’s economic growth.
