Hezbollah chief hails ‘unique opportunity to liberate every inch of Lebanon’

Hassan Nasrallah warned that the Israeli bombing of the Lebanese capital ‘will not go unanswered’ and revealed that the resistance group has conducted over 670 operations against Israel over the past 90 days

Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah on 5 January revealed that, since 8 October, the Lebanese resistance has conducted hundreds of attacks against Israel and remarked on the “opportunity” the advances made at the southern border present.

“We find ourselves at a historic juncture, presenting a unique opportunity to fully liberate every inch of our land and establish an equation that safeguards our country’s sovereignty, an opportunity initiated by the blessings of the Lebanese front,” Nasrallah said during a highly anticipated speech on Friday.

“Our response to attacks on civilians encompassed the precise targeting of not only all Israeli border sites but also a significant array of rear sites and settlements. The resistance executed over 670 operations in the past months, with some days witnessing up to 23 operations,” the Hezbollah leader revealed.

Nasrallah stressed that the Israeli response to the staggering number of attacks on their northern border stands in stark contrast to years past. “In previous times, a single operation would result in extensive destruction across southern Lebanon,” he noted.

“The targeted sites comprised 48 border sites and 11 rear positions. Additionally, 50 border points, where enemy soldiers sought refuge, were repeatedly targeted, along with 17 settlements.”

Furthermore, he claimed that the “real death toll” among Israeli troops is three times higher than what officials in Tel Aviv have disclosed. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health sources, there are over 2,000 casualties on the northern front.

As for the retaliation over the bombing of the Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh, the Hezbollah leader said the attack – which killed top Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri – will have a decisive response on the battlefield.

“The killing of Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri will undoubtedly not go unanswered or unpunished; the decision lies in the hands of the field, and it will undoubtedly be implemented,” Nasrallah warned. “We cannot remain silent in the face of such a grave violation, as it puts Lebanon at risk.”

He also commended the other factions within the Resistance Axis for their unwavering support of the Palestinian people and the opportunity they have to push back against western imperialist interests.

“An advantageous outcome of the Islamic resistance in Iraq opening a front in support of Gaza is the genuine prospect for Iraq to liberate itself from the US occupation,” he said.

Turning his attention to Yemen, Nasrallah hailed the Ansarallah-led government in Sanaa for “evolving from being an internal faction to becoming a pivotal component of the international equation, compelling the world to reckon with it despite attempts to marginalize it.”

He also reminded the US government that, when it comes to Yemen, it faces “tens of millions of Yemenis with a history of thwarting aggressors and inflicting defeats.”
