IRGC Commander Reiterates Failure of US Great Middle-East Plan

A0096314.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Seyed Yahya Rahim Safavi said there are well-established indications that the US Great Middle-East Plan has come to failure.

Addressing a general convention on ‘Preparation Doctrine for Navy Unit Commanders’, General Safavi described the Middle-East as the beating heart of the Muslim world, and reminded, “As a region which enjoys 70% of the world’s major energy resources and with a superior geopolitical, geo-strategic, geo-economic and geo-cultural position, Middle-East is considered as one of the most strategic centers of the world in the 21st century.”

Elaborating on the present conditions dominating the Middle-East region, he stated that the big western powers have always vied with each other to dominate the strategic region of the Middle-East, and said that the US, Britain, Israel and a number of EU states as well as Russia and China are now vying to gain control of the energy resources of the region and maintain a powerful political presence in regional balance in this part of the world.

The IRGC commander-in-chief viewed Zionists’ invasion of Lebanon as a US plan, adding, “Americans considered themselves as the victorious party of the cold war, specially after decomposition of the former Soviet Union.”

“Then, they misused the 9/11 incident — which they themselves or Zionists might have planned – to raid Afghanistan, Iraq and now Lebanon so that they could occupy these countries and achieve their desired goals, including dominance over regional resources,” he pointed out.

He further noted the political, economic and social status of the Zionist regime during the present war and said that some of the Israeli analysts themselves have admitted that Israel has sustained most defeats in the current war, while some others have questioned the Zionist army and government for their lack of military preparedness and their lack of power and capability to confront Hezbollah.

Pointing to the differences existing between the Israeli government and army commanders, the Iranian General said that the Zionist regime has exerted much pressure on its army to conquer the Litany River so that they could call for a ceasefire and deployment of international forces in order to prevent any further attacks by Hezbollah’s short-range rockets. “But they have failed to do so because of the courageous resistance by Hezbollah troops.”

The member of the country’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) called for the formation of a united strategic front by the Muslim and regional states in a bid to confront the US and Zionists’ conspiracy aimed at dominating the Islamic countries.

To conclude his words, he addressed the Middle-Eastern governments and nations and said, “Ignorance and inaction of Arab and Muslim governments in confronting the Zionist regime at the present sensitive juncture could lead into a change of the political and historical fate of the Middle-East which will serve to the detriment of the freedom-seeking nations in future.”
