Iraqi Mujahideen fighters ambushed two US armored vehicles in Tall ‘Afar, west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq early on Thursday morning, September 7, 2006. 

Mujhideen armed with RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades and medium machine guns attacked two US armored vehicles, destroying both of them and killing or wounding all the American troops aboard. 

The Mijhideen quickly left the scene after the strike, but one of the fighters was wounded.

 US troops quickly imposed a curfew in the area where the attack occurred.  The curfew remained in force for two hours, during which time the Americans hauled the wreckage of the two vehicles away to the Tall ‘Afar train station, a facility that the Americans have occupied and turned into their local base.

 An Iraqi Mujahideen  bomb exploded by a US military patrol on the main roan northwest of al-Hadithah, about 220km northwest of Baghdad. The bomb, which was planted on the road to the ash-Shaykh Hadid area, went off by a passing US patrol, completely destroying a Humvee and killing four US troops who were aboard the vehicle.
