Commander Stresses Troops’ Readiness to Safeguard Iran

A0166055.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Commander of Iran’s Basij (mobilized) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Hejazi Sunday voiced his troops’ preparedness to defend the country against enemies’ threats.

Speaking to reporters in the southern city of Bushehr, the General said that the Islamic Republic does not consider presence of the US naval fleet in the Persian Gulf as a threat, “because presence of the US navy in the region is nothing new.”

Meantime, the commander stressed preparedness of the Iranian armed forces to defend the country against all types of threats.

Pointing to the elevated level of preparedness by his troops, he said his troops have reached such a high level of preparedness that scores of Basiji forces have now been assigned to various missions by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) navy and air force.

Hejazi said participation of thousands of his troops in various war games of the Iranian army and IRGC illustrates the high level of preparedness and power of the Basiji troops as well as sophisticated and excellent management of such military exercises.

Meantime, the General stressed that all organized units of Basij would be provided with the needed equipment and training by the end of the country’s fourth five-year development plan so that they can accomplish any kind of mission entrusted to them.
