Iran Favors Tranquility in Afghanistan

A0244383.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian foreign minister Manuchehr Mottaki said that Iran seeks peace and tranquility in Afghanistan adding that the wrong policies of the past in this region should be practically revised.

In a joint press conference with his Malaysian counterpart Hamed Albar here in Tehran on Thursday, Iranian foreign minister made reference to the visit to Tehran by Hamed Albar heading a high ranking politico-economic delegation for the purpose of attending the 6th joint Iran-Malaysia commission and stated that the industrialists , trade and commercial companies as well as various governmental sectors from Iran and Malaysia negotiated business and trade matters and reached useful and positive results such as preparation and endorsement of the negotiations’ document and conclusion of an agreement containing 77 paragraphs by the Iranian and Malaysian foreign ministers.

Mottaki stated that in this document, the two sides defined new and fresh grounds and opportunities for the expansion of mutual economic cooperation adding that the volume of trade between Iran and Malaysia has registered a growth of over 49% compared to similar period of time last year and anticipated that the volume of trade between the two nations would exceed USD 1 billion by the end of this year.

Mottaki further praised Malaysia for the adoption of constructive stances as a government currently presiding the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in the face of regional issues such as Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Lebanon and ultimately for its condemnation of the aggressions of the Zionist regime of Israel.
