Quake, Blast Rock Northeastern Iran

A023701811.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale and a strong explosion jolted Mashhad, northeastern Iran on Sunday.

The quake was registered at 18:10 hours Mashhad local time (14:40 GMT) and rocked Torqabe district in the north of the city.

Meantime, a strong explosion at the high-voltage sub-station of Mashhad rocked a large part of the city and frightened residents in this provincial capital.

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quake and the blast.
