Indian Ocean Regional Cooperation Meeting Starts Work

The 9th meeting of the Senior Officials Committee and the 7th meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Indian Ocean Littoral States’ Regional Cooperation Union kicked off work here in Tehran on Tuesday. During the Tuesday meeting which is attended by deputy foreign ministers of the member states, important issues pertaining to international cooperation and future cooperation are discussed, while the report of the recent expert meetings in the three private sector, academic and trade areas will be presented.

The meeting of the foreign ministers’ council will also start work on Wednesday with the opening address of Iran’s first Vice-President Parviz Dawoodi.

The three-day ministerial meeting is due to study the proposals made by the senior officials committee concerning consolidation of regional cooperation and other intra-organizational issues.
