France, Egypt announce new economic ties

16.jpgFrance and Egypt announced they will foster their economic ties with new agreements on a variety of business sectors. Speaking after a meeting with French prime minister Francois Fillon in Paris, Egypt’s president Hosni Mubarak said the two countries are “completely in agreement on certain projects” to be signed when Fillon visits Cairo in the future.

The Egyptian premier placed emphasis on the industrial, satellite and military sectors.

Fillon, meanwhile, spoke of plans to “accelerate bilateral relations” between the two countries.

France is Egypt’s fifth-biggest national supplier and its number-four investor. Airbus, the aircraft manufacturing unit of EADS, holds the top spot for French business exports to Egypt.
