Quake Hits northwestern Iran

A02537697.jpgAn earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale jolted the city of Tabriz in Iran’s northwestern province of Eastern Azarbaijan Sunday morning. The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 08:50 hours local time (05:20 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area measuring 46.4 degrees in longitude and 38.1 degrees in latitude.

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quake.
