Quake Hits Northwestern Iran

A02942827.jpgAn earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale jolted the region of Silvaneh in Iran’s northwestern province of Western Azarbaijan on Friday. The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 13:19:27 hours local time (09:49:27 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area measuring 44.78 degrees in longitude and 37.51 degrees in latitude.

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quake.
