Quake Hits Northern Iran

A014269419.jpgAn earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted the town of Aradan in Iran’s northern province of Semnan Monday night. According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was registered at 21:04 hours local time (17:34 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area measuring 53 degrees in longitude and 34.7 degrees in latitude.

Later on Monday, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted the town of Ardakan in Iran’s southern province of Fars.

According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was registered at 21:55 hours local time (18:25 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area measuring 51.8 degrees in longitude and 30.4 degrees in latitude.

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quakes.
