Car bomb kills 20 north of Baghdad: police

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – A car bomb killed 20 people and wounded 60 in the Iraqi city of Baquba on Tuesday, police said.

Police said they expected the death toll to rise.

They said the bomb exploded in front of the office of the provincial government in Baquba, the local capital of Diyala province north of Baghdad.

Diyala has been one of the main battlegrounds between security forces and al Qaeda militants in recent months.

Al Qaeda regrouped in northern provinces such as Diyala after being pushed out from western Anbar province and Baghdad.
