‘Clerics have heavy responsibilities’

627916-47-58_n.jpgThe leader of the Islamic Revolution says clerics bear a heavy responsibility towards achieving the moral ideals of the Islamic republic. “Piety, acquiring religious and divine knowledge and awareness of domestic and international political moves are among the most important responsibilities of the clerics,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with Ulema, elites and theology students of Fars province Wednesday.

The leader cited ‘security’ as a fundamental need of human beings, saying that “the real security of the world’s nations will be achieved in line with two main factors –might and religious spirituality.”

“As a symbol of political power for the believers, the Islamic Revolution is apt to possess the two factors.”

The clerics are now pioneers of spiritual leadership in human lives, thanks to the establishment of the Islamic Revolution system, thus clergymen and theology students in particular should pay serious attention to self-edification, the leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said clerics need to master religious knowledge, mind sciences and logic and added that “the modern and advanced means should be used in elaborating (the religion) but logic means the understanding of mental atmosphere of the audiences and a wise thinking of settlement of their problems.”

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that an accurate view of the international policies as well as an extensive familiarity with domestic and global political moves are crucial regarding the responsibilities of clerics.

The leader added that the policies pursued by the world’s major powers pave the way for the spread of corruption, cruelty and war and leads to bloodshed in the world.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has never bowed to such policies and has always confronted the superpowers, who support those policies in the world. This is the reason that Iran is the target of broad attacks by the arrogant powers.” Ayatollah Khamenei concluded.
