Iran to Dispatch 1st Aid Cargo to Quake-Hit China

TEHRAN (FNA)- China will soon receive a shipment of Iranian aid for quake victims.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society has prepared its initial cargo of humanitarian aid for shipment to the quake-hit regions of China.

According to a press tv report, the 60-ton shipment, which includes tents, sleeping gear and medicine, will soon be sent out to the victims of last Monday’s devastating earthquake in southwestern China.

Thousands of people lost their lives in the Chinese province of Sichuan last week when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks shook the region.

On Sunday, the Chinese government confirmed that the quake had claimed at least 32,500 lives.

However, estimates indicate that the final figure may stand at somewhere around 50,000
