Bulgarian Stock Exchange Indices Collapse to 2004 Levels

The main index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange Sofix fell by 8,44% on Friday closing at 548,02, which equals its Summer 2004 level.

The BG-40 index decreased by 5,98% reaching a value of 149,62. Friday’s turnover on the stock exchange in
Sofia was only BGN 6,451 M.

The value of the shares of all companies decreased with the exception of those of the Central Cooperative Bank and of the First Investment Bank.

Other stock exchanges in the region also registered significant declines. The Romanian Stock Exchange in Bucharest saw decreases of 15%, whereas the stock exchange in Athens registered a decline of 10%.
