The ruling coalition stakes on support of external creditors

MOLDOVA

Representatives of the four parties expressed their concern with the orders given by the Communist leaders to the Government to spend all the money, which remains in the budget, as soon as possible.

The new coalition stakes on support on the part of external creditors, the leaders of the four political parties – the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM), Liberal Party of Moldova, Democratic Party of Moldova and Moldova Noastra Alliance declared on air on the PRO-TV-Chişinău channel on Saturday.

DPM Leader Marian Lupu confirmed that before the formation of the coalition, the leaders of four parties met external creditors and exchanged opinions on the financial and economic situation in Moldova.

He expressed concern that in order to maintain stability in the social sector the Moldovan authorities used financial methods, which give short-term decisions, but they are very risky in the long ruin.

He designated the National Bank’s reduction of the legal reserve standard as one of such measures. In his words, in this way the liquidity, which had to be used for supporting the national economy, replenished the budget by means of selling state securities. In Lupu’s opinion, it allowed to replenish the budget for the last two months by 600 million lei.

The ex-Speaker thinks that it is a delayed-action bomb. In September-October, we may have problems with the payout of pensions and salaries. We can overcome these problems only with the help of foreign creditors.

LDPM Leader Vlad Filat said that during the last months the Communist authorities made many economic entities to pay their taxes in advance to set off the lack of money.

He said that, as a result of the erroneous budget and economic policy the budget deficit can reach 6 billion lei (almost one third of the state budget) by the end of the year.

“We have discussed the possibility of financing the budget deficit. They are ready not only to support us in this respect, but to facilitate the real economy growth processes”, the LDPM leader said.

MNA Leader Serafim Urechean asserts that external donors are ready to support Moldova only in the case of democratic governance and he expressed confidence that the Communists understand this and will act respectively, when it will be necessary to elect the new Moldovan President.

At the same time, representatives of the four parties expressed their concern with the orders given by the Communist leaders to the Government to spend all the money, which remains in the budget, as soon as possible.
