U.S. will to continue supporting Georgia-NATO rapprochement: Deputy Defense Minister

The U.S. will continue supporting consistently the Georgia- the NATO rapprochement, Alexander Vershbow, U.S Deputy Minister of Defense for International Security said at the meeting with Georgian vice Prime Minister, Giorgi Baramidze.

Vershbow said Georgia has its own way of membership at NATO and in this way Georgia should continue to make the best use of existing tools.

The meeting discussed the current political processes in Georgia, the effective support of the international community for the settlement of the Georgian-Russian conflict, the process of Georgia’s integration into the NATO and the Georgian-American cooperation, the office of the Georgian vice Prime Minister said.

The U.S will continue to provide assistance to Georgia in the sphere of defense and “actively promote the modernization of the Armed Forces, the Deputy Minister said.
