The opposition says today will begin massive protests in connection with the deaths of two people in an explosion of memorial to the World War II veterans in Kutaisi.

The authorities explained the need for demolition of the monument with the construction of the new parliamentary building at the site. As a result of the explosion of 25-meter memorial one of the fragments flew a few hundred yards and hit a mother and daughter Jincharadze. Eight-year-Nino died on the spot and her mother died in hospital.

On Sunday, the opposition held a protest in front of the Kutaisi City Hall. They accused the authorities of what happened and demanded to punish not only the people directly responsible for the tragedy, but also those who ordered the hasty blow up the memorial.
