Belarus parliament proposes president to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Belorussian parliamentary delegation submitted to President Alexander Lukashenko the proposal concerning the possible recognition of independence of two Georgian breakaway regions.

The delegation has visited Abkhaia and Southern Ossetia last year and submitted the cautious proposal now, the report said.

“Now it’s up to the president to make a decision,” Sergei Maskevich, head of Belarus’ parliamentary commission for international affairs said.
