EU-Georgia negotiations on association agreement close to final stage

EU High Commissioner for External Affairs and Security Catherine Ashton’s visit to the country is begining of new relations between Georgia and the EU, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said.

“The visit, on the one hand, will be summarizing one and on the other – a new stage in our relations,” he said.

He said the negotiations on an association agreement with EU is moving to a decisive phase, and free trade negotiations must begin by late 2011. It is also planned to start negotiations concerning the Abolition of the visa regime in the near future.
