Germany to vote against Turkey’s EU entry negotiations

Germany has decided to block the restart of Turkey’s EU accession talks over the brutal crackdown on protesters in the country.

Germany opposed the renewed embrace of Turkey at a meeting of representatives of the bloc’s 27 governments in Brussels.

The Dutch representative abstained, and the other 25 countries were in favor. Pushing ahead with the EU accession talks as scheduled next week would have required unanimous approval at the meeting.
