Mali’s political party RPM calls for proper conduct in presidential runoff

Mali’s second largest political party Rally for Mali (RPM) Wednesday called on the transition authorities to ensure proper conduct in Sunday’s presidential runoff.

“The RPM and its allies who support Ibrahim Boubacar Keita in the second round strongly encourage the authorities of transition in charge of the proper conduct of the election on Aug. 11 to double their efforts,” the party said in a statement.

The RPM also urged the transition authorities to “improve the conditions and the proceeding of voting, to correct problems noted here and there, to make the provisions of the electoral law, which must not change at this stage, scrupulously respected.”

Mali will hold a presidential runoff between former prime minister Keita and former finance minister Soumaila Cisse on Sunday as no clear winner emerged from the first round of the election held in late July.
