Russia sends aid to Syria

Russia delivered another package of humanitarian aid to Syria and would withdraw more Russian nationals from the war-torn country, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Tuesday.

“At 9:00 Moscow time (0500 GMT) an Il-76 aircraft took off from Ramenskoye airport near Moscow carrying 20 tons of humanitarian cargo,” ministry spokeswoman Irina Rossius told reporters.

The plane was loaded mostly with canned foods and sugar, she added.

On its return trip the plane would pick up about 100 Russian nationals and 80 citizens of other Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS).

Russia regularly sends humanitarian aid to Syria and withdraws its citizens from Syria.
