Mali’s legislative polls to be held on Nov. 24

The first round of Mali’s legislative elections will be held on Nov. 24, according to the government.

The date was unveiled at the end of a cabinet meeting chaired by President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, an official statement said.

The cabinet meeting adopted the bill proposed by Territorial Administration Minister Moussa Sinko Coulibaly, regarding the election date and the campaign period.

The statement from the cabinet said the second round of the legislative elections will be held on Dec. 15 in constituencies, where no candidate obtains an absolute majority in the first round of voting.

The electoral campaigns for the first round will open on Nov. 3 at midnight and will close on Nov. 22 at midnight.
