US backs Serbia on EU integration

Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić has said the U.S. supports Serbia’s efforts to get the date of the first intergovernmental conference with the EU as soon as possible.

The prime minister on Monday in New York met with the U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Samantha Power, and said afterwards they had discussed the situation in Kosovo and the implementation of the Brussels agreement.

“The fact that the re-run of the vote in northern Kosovska Mitrovica went through peacefully was described as positive and Serbia’s efforts towards the EU, to get the date of the first intergovernmental conference as soon as possible, were also welcomed,” Dačić stated.

“The American administration has a very positive disposition regarding the development of our bilateral relations,” Dačić noted.

Dačić will take part in a meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, which will discuss the latest report on Kosovo filed by UN Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon.
