Kerry condemns barrel bombs used in Syria

imgWashington’s top diplomat on Tuesday slammed the Syrian government’s use of deadly barrel bombs in the northern city of Aleppo.

“Each and every barrel bomb filled with metal shrapnel and fuel launched against innocent Syrians underscores the barbarity of a regime that has turned its country into a super magnet for terror,” said Secretary of State John Kerry in a statement released to the press.

At least 27 people, including women and children, were killed Tuesday in Aleppo after Syrian helicopters allegedly dropped the makeshift explosives on opposition-held areas, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights.

“Given this horrific legacy, the Syrian people would never accept as legitimate a government including [Syrian President Bashar] Assad,” Kerry said.
