EU not to apply economic sanctions on Ukraine for now

imgThe European Union does not rule out the option of economic sanctions against Ukraine, in case the situation in the country deteriorates.

“Nobody wanted immediate and general sanctions. However, we decided to look again at targeted sanctions if ever the situation becomes worse, which is not the case now”, French Minister for European Affairs Thierry Repentin said.

During last week, the EU suggested it was preparing a financial assistance package for Ukraine, if the country’s leadership moves forward with political and judicial reforms.
