Russia says it won’t intervene in Ukraine

imgMoscow promised Tuesday that he would not intervene in the crisis in neighboring Ukraine, but said the country should not be forced to choose between Russia and the West.

“We confirm our position of principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of Ukraine and hope that everyone follows a similar logic,” said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“We are interested in Ukraine being part of the European family, in every sense of the word,” he said after meeting with his Luxembourg counterpart Jean Asselborn.

But he added: “We agree on that … It is dangerous and counterproductive to force Ukraine to a choice – either you are with us or against us.”
