Azerbaijan demonstrates defense products in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur. Rashad Suleymanov-APA. The 14th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA 2014) has kicked off at Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

APA’s correspondent reports from Malaysia that Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry (MDI) is represented by a separate stand at the exhibition in which more than 1000 manufacturing companies and organizations from 50 countries are participating. 

DSA 2014 is being led by Malysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. 27 000 visitors confirmed their participation in the exhibition.

This year, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan’s Defense Industries from the post-Soviet region are being represented at DSA 2014 that is one of the five largest defense fairs in the world.

A large delegation led by Azerbaijani Minister of Defense Industry Yaver Jamalov is also attending the exhibition. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Malaysia Galey Allahverdiyev also attended the exhibition.

The Azerbaijani stand is obviously and through brochures presenting local-produced 132 types of defense products.  The ministry is showcasing “Istiglal-T”, the modernization version of 14.5-mm caliber “Istiglal” sniper rifle, 7.62-mm “Yalguzag” sniper rifle, tank machine gun, HP-7.62 offensive machinegun, universal machinegun for the first time produced by local engineers, “Zafar”, “Zafar-K” and “Inam” pistols, drone models, aviation training bombs, ammunition of various calibers, vests, gas masks and others.

Azerbaijan is also presenting ADEX-2014 to be held in Baku in September.

After the opening of the exhibition, servicemen and representatives of a number of countries familiarized with the Azerbaijani stand. Minister of Defense Industry Yaver Jamalov met with chief of Turkish National Police Mehmet Kiliclar. Afterwards, Kiliclar was thoroughly informed about Azerbaijan’s defense products.

Minister Yaver Jamalov plans to meet with Defense Minister of Malaysia tomorrow.
