Dzevad Zec Acquitted of Killing Serb

The District Court in Banja Luka acquitted Devad Zec of having killed a Serb civilian in Vasiljevici, a hamlet near Kotor Varos.

Trial Chamber Chairwoman Olga Pantic said that Zec was acquitted of the charges that he killed Slavo Vasiljevic in June 1992 due to lack of evidence.

“The Chamber considers that the Prosecution has not proved the allegations contained in the indictment,” Pantic said.

Zec was accused of killing Slavo Vasiljevic with an automatic gun at the doorstep of his home in Staza village, near Kotor Varos in the evening of June 19 1992.

The parties have the right to appeal this verdict with the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.
