Algeria reaffirms support for political solution in Libya

Algeria and the United States have reaffirmed, Monday in Algiers, their support to the United Nations’ efforts for a “political solution” to the crisis in Libya.
During a meeti ng between the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, Abdelhamid Senouci Bereksi and a US delegation led jointly by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson and Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business AffairsCharles Rivkin, as part of the regular political consultations between Algeria and the U.S., the two sides exchanged views on regional issues, particularly the situation in Libya and Mali, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué.
The two sides “reaffirmed their support to the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Libya Bernardino Leon, aiming at finding a political solution to the crisis in this country,” said the communiqué.

“The US side expressed support to Algeria’s efforts for a political solution in Libya, through an inclusive dialogue, and hailed Algeria for its efforts in the achievement of an inter-Malian peace and reconciliation agreement (signed Sunday in Algiers,” said the source.
