Security forces, rebels clash in Afghanistan

At least nine security personnel and five rebels were killed in clashes with security forces in different parts of Afghanistan, said the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Wednesday.
A statement by MoD confirmed that eight soldiers died during anti-rebels offensive. Five militants were perished in southern Ghazni, Helmand and northern Kunduz provinces of Afghanistan, it added.
The ministry further said that a huge cache of weapons and 48 bags of explosives were recovered from a car during the operations.
Meanwhile, Dilaram district chief, Najibullah Hayat told media that one Afghan National Army (ANA) service member was killed and two others wounded in roadside bombing in Nimroz province. According to local media reports, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed that six Afghan soldiers were killed and a tank destroyed in the roadside explosion.
