At least six people were killed Tuesday in the region of Timbuktu in northern Mali, in an ambush attributed to Islamists.
“At least six civilians were killed, burned or shot dead after a double attack organized by Islamists in a nearby locality Gossi, south of Timbuktu,” said an administrative source.
The information was confirmed by a Malian security source who spoke six civilians killed. For its part, a security source in the UN Mission in Mali (Minusma) reported more than six deaths, without giving further details.
“The Islamists first laid a mine. A civilian vehicle hit the mine. After the explosion, two civilian vehicles that came through the back were injured and the Islamists are out of hiding to shoot the civilians, “said the Malian security source.
