Shoukry to visit Ghana for regional talks

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry headed to Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday. He is scheduled to deliver a message from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Ghanaian president Nana Akufo-Addo that focuses on the two countries’ bilateral relations.
Shoukry will meet with high officials that include the foreign affairs minister and the parliament’s speaker.
The visit comes within the framework of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with African countries and based on the historical relations that Egypt has with Ghana, according to the foreign affairs ministry’s spokesperson.
The minister’s meetings with officials in Ghana will include consultations on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
President Al-Sisi has met with Ghanaian ministers previously in June 2016 on the sidelines of the 27th African Union (AU) summit held in Kigali, also meeting his counterparts from Sudan, Togo, Ghana, and Rwanda.
