UNICEF warns: The killing of Palestinian children must stop

“The killing of Palestinian children must stop,” stated the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
“Children in the State of Palestine have been exposed to a tragic and vicious cycle of violence for too long. This is a conflict that disproportionately affects children,” said Adele Khodr, UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, adding:

“The killing of children must stop. We need a ceasefire. Now.”

She reminded that children are constantly targeted in Israeli attacks.

“In the last 72 hours, in a military operation in Tulkarem in the West Bank, three Palestinian children were killed, and at least 14 more children were killed in Rafah,” Khodr said.

The number of casualties in the attacks carried out by the Israeli army, accused of genocide, in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has risen to 34,097.

Israeli warfare has pushed 85 percent of the population of the Gaza Strip into internally displaced situations, with acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to United Nations data.

Israel has been accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice. In a provisional ruling in January, Tel Aviv was ordered to cease genocidal acts and take measures to ensure the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
