Iranian Majlis Deputy Speaker: ‘Nuclear Energy And Sovereignty Over The Strait Of Hormuz Are Iran’s…

On April 24, 2026, a day before Iran conveyed its new proposal to the U.S. regarding lifting the U.S. blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a guarantee of freedom of passage in the Strait, Majlis Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad said in a speech to residents of the city of Amol in northern Iran that the IRGC and Iranian army have complete control of the Strait of Hormuz and will not hesitate to use this strategic asset against “the American arrogance.”

Saying that U.S. policy is actually a criminal business activity disguised as war aimed at seizing about 60% of the world’s energy reserves – for example, allegedly in the case of Venezuela – Nikzad warned that Iran and Yemen would act together, in response to “American piracy,” to close the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb strait. This, he said, would paralyze the global economy and cause severe oil and food shortages for the enemy.

Nikzad went on to call President Trump a “defeated gambler” abandoned by NATO and Europe who had failed in his attempt to destroy the Iranian regime, and that the latter had only grown stronger. He set out firm conditions for any future negotiations: a complete halt to aggression against Iran and its resistance axis – which he said are one and the same – as well as a full U.S. withdrawal from the region, the lifting of all sanctions, war reparations to Iran, and more.

He concluded by insisting that for Iran, nuclear energy and sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz are inalienable rights that Iran will never give up for a single moment. He also said that Iran has the full right to blood vengeance over the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Iranian military commanders and civilians. He condemned the neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf , which he called treacherous due to their assistance to the enemy and for having allowed their territories to be used for attacks against Iran.

The following are the main points of Nikzad’s speech:

“The Malicious Behavior Of Some Neighboring Countries Is Very Surprising”

“America and the Zionist regime must be held accountable to the global public with regard to why they killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the revolution, [as well as] army commanders and the schoolgirls at the school in Minab [mistakenly bombed by the U.S.; it was located adjacent to an IRGC complex[1]]. Additionally, the malicious actions of some neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf is very surprising – they must explain why they allowed their airspace to be used by the arrogance [i.e. the U.S.] for Khamenei’s killing and the Minab school catastrophe.”

By What Legal Authority Did You Unlawfully Freeze Iran’s Funds?

“By what right, law, conscience, and honor did the world unjustly block Iran’s assets? The illegal use of the Iranian people’s assets is impure and forbidden to you.”

Pointing to the aims of U.S. leaders in recent years and saying that they have a tendency to invade countries to seize their valuable oil and resources, he added: “This practice has now reached Trump as well. Examples of these crimes occurred in Venezuela before the attack on Iran, and they [the Americans] must answer the [question] the world [is asking]; By what right did you kidnap that country’s elected president?”

“Trump Became A Desperate Captive… In The Face Of The Resistance And The Steadfastness Of The Iranian People”

“It is abundantly clear that the American president [Trump] carried out this inhumane action in order to seize approximately 20% of the world’s oil reserves in Venezuela, and it was with the same intent that he attacked Iran, the country with the third richest oil reserves after Saudi Arabia. But he only became a desperate captive as a result, in the face of the resistance and the steadfastness of the Iranian people.

“Trump seeks only his own personal interests in the world, by means of waging wars in other countries. Coups, sanctions, proxy wars, and an empire of media presence aimed at distorting global public opinion and promoting hostile aims have been part of America’s war policy for the past centuries.

America’s dark and shameful record of attacks on Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Libya, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria has been exposed. America’s goal in waging wars, attacking countries, taking over energy reserves, and projecting its arrogant nature to the world is, first and foremost, a business operation.

“They [Israel and America] seek to use arms factories and sell arms to countries that attack other countries, and the human crime in Gaza is a mark of shame on Israel and America in the history of humanity.”

“We Say To The Persian Gulf Countries: You Are Shamed And Disgraced For Allowing America To Use Your Territory Against Iran”

“The world already knows that America is criminal; it brings countries to ruin, and the humanitarian disaster that America and Israel left in Gaza is a badge of shame for these two evil regimes of which history will be ashamed.

“The Iranian regime reserves the right to vengeance for the blood of the martyrs of Minab, [Supreme] Leader [Ali Khamenei], the commanders, and Iran’ innocent citizens. We say to the Persian Gulf countries: You are shamed and disgraced for allowing America to use your territory against Iran.”

“The Bab-el-Mandeb Strait Will Be Closed By Heroic Muslim Yemen”

“The enemy’s [Israel’s] petrochemical facilities were turned to dust and blood by the bombing of [Iran’s] petrochemical facilities. If you want to attack infrastructure and energy, we will make you suffer even more for water, oil, and food. The Strait of Hormuz is the nation’s red line. America wants to seize 60% of the world’s oil reserves by taking over energy-rich countries. Today, Iran is blocking and closing the Strait of Hormuz, and they [the Americans] do not dare open it.

In response to the American piracy [i.e. the April 20 U.S. seizure of an Iranian vessel], the Bab-el-Mandeb strait will be closed by heroic Muslim Yemen. Five percent of the world’s oil passes through it. The 140 ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz every day move 20 million barrels of oil every day, 6.2 billion a year. Closing both these straits will paralyze the world.”

“The Key To The Strait Of Hormuz Is In The Hands Of The IRGC And The Iranian Army”

“Trump’s strategic failure stems from his intention to destroy the regime – but the regime has strengthened. His failure was that he never managed to control our oil, but the Strait of Hormuz was closed. The key to the Strait of Hormuz is in the hands of the IRGC and the [Iranian] army, and Iran’s oil exports during the war are greater than before. Today, NATO and Europe have abandoned Trump, and this is a major failure.

“With regard to Trump’s absolutely false claim about negotiating with elements from the Iranian regime, [it must be remembered that] in negotiations, wisdom, honor, and benefit are all at stake, and we obey the orders of the Leader of the Revolution [Mojtaba Khamenei] – and the other side must pay full reparations. This is even though America initially accepted all the conditions and then violated them.”

Iran Demands “A Complete Cessation Of All Aggression Against It And The Resistance Axis, The Withdrawal Of American Forces From The Region, The Lifting Of All… Sanctions, And The Release Of Frozen Funds”; Iran And The Resistance Are “One And The Same”; Nuclear Energy And The Strait Of Hormuz Are Iran’s Inviolable Right”

“[Iran’s] most important conditions include a complete cessation of all aggression against it and the resistance axis, the withdrawal of American forces from the region, the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, and the release of frozen funds.

“Iran has no problem with the Persian Gulf states, and has not attacked them. America must see us and the resistance as one and the same. Of course, America is a great liar; it even included in its conditions the demand that Iran abandon nuclear energy for 20 years. Nuclear energy and the Strait of Hormuz are Iran’s inviolable right, and it will not give them up, not even for a moment.”[2] [1] Theguardian.com/global-development/2026/mar/10/iran-minab-school-bombing-shajareh-tayyebeh-primary-what-evidence-us-responsible, March 10, 2026.
