Israel arrests 24 Palestinians in West Bank raids

RAMALLAH, Nov. 10 – Israeli forces arrested 24 Palestinians in a massive crackdown against wanted activists in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Palestinian and Israeli sources said Monday. Among the detainees, 12 were seized in the holy city of Bethlehem and 11 in Ramallah, with another Palestinian arrested in northern West Bank city of Jenin, the Palestinian sources said.

The Israeli sources said the detainees were taken for interrogation, adding that all of them were wanted for planning or carrying out attacks against Israel.

The Israeli army raids the West Bank cities almost every night despite the valid security agreements with the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

The PNA said the raids do not go with Israel’s commitments under the first phase of the U.S.-backed Road Map peace plan.

Jenin city, which U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice toured last week, experienced a fresh Israeli army raid Sunday night.
