Macedonian PM reaffirms Macedonia’s commitment to overcome hurdle to NATO

Macedonia is fully committed to reaching a mutually acceptable solution to Greece-imposed name issue, which impedes Macedonia’s NATO membership, Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said.

PM Gruevski made the remarks at the meeting with NATO’s Deputy Assistant General for Security Cooperation and Partnership Robert Simmons.

“Republic of Macedonia remains fully committed, through reforms and contribution to NATO-led missions, to act like a partner among the Alliance’s members, sharing and safeguarding the common values and responsibilities,” PM Gruevski said.

The senior NATO official said the Alliance highly appreciates Macedonia’s contribution to global and regional stability. Speaking from military point of view, there is no obstacle to Macedonia’s NATO membership.
